Auditioning
The auditioning world has been kind to me recently, which is a really nice change. I had auditioned for The Choral Arts Society of Philadelphia several weeks ago, and they rather liked me, but I had heard nothing from them since then until two days ago, when I got an email from the Chorus Administrator telling me when the first rehearsal was. I wrote back saying, "I guess this means I'm in?" Apparently, I am in, and I'll be getting official materials in the mail soon.
This past Wednesday, I auditioned for the Arden Theater's production of Cafe Puttanesca. The audition went very well, but I had too many conflicts for them...my previous engagements with the New York Choral Artists and the Concert Chorale of New York doing Berlioz's Romeo et Juliette and Dallapiccola and Nono were smack dab in the middle of the rehearsal and first performances of their show.
So off I went to the next audition, for the Philadelphia Singers. That went very well, despite the fact that I had to walk through the sweltering Philadelphia streets to get to the (nicely air-conditioned) audition room at Curtis. Of course, they didn't say anything at the audition, but I thought they were pleased. I guess time will tell; I'll just be happy if/when I get the call.
Now, on to other news. In my quest for more money, I've joined up with a few affiliate programs to see how that all pays off. Not being much of a salesperson, I chose sites that I myself visit, so that I can be more convincing when I say, "Oh, yes, you should shop here, because you could save $20 off $100 or $40 off $150 at Coldwater creek."
Actually, I really do shop at Coldwater Creek, and they DO have great deals for pretty nice clothes. I got my audition dress there. So here's the deal: I'll try to provide actual real content on this blog (i.e., exciting adventures about my singing life, stories about the various wildlife in my garden), and every time you shop for clothes or art or pet medication, go through my website (the "links" page), and I'll make a little commission. It doesn't cost you anything, and it puts just a little money into my pocket.
I will be updating my links regularly, so please bookmark it and let me know if you want to see something or don't want to see anything.
