Episode XXIV: Miscellany
There is nothing more wonderful than that feeling you get when you’re doing something you love. I have been struck by that feeling quite a bit this past week, and I thought I would share with you.
I haven’t quite gotten over the fact that I’m quite starstruck by singing under Lorin Maazel’s masterful conducting, that is certain. But I’m so happy and thankful that I have been able to sing at such a historic event. It’s so hard to describe, but I get a feeling of “rightness” when I’m on that stage; I know I’m on the right path, and that’s a good feeling.
Other sagas in my life: A stray cat wandered into our backyard this summer, and decided to have kittens under the shed. She is a sweet little thing, and because she was so skinny and friendly, I started feeding her. Her two kittens (there were originally three, but one of them disappeared) are terribly distrustful of me, so I can’t catch them and take them to the vet. I’ve already taken “Mama” (we started calling her that for obvious reasons) to the vet, who said that I should bring the kittens in as soon as possible so they can get their shots (rabies, feline leukemia, etc.). Mama didn’t like being taken to the vet, and when we got back, she took the kittens and left for a week. But she was soon back at the door, meowing for food. Fickle cat. Mama seems to be trying to make the kittens understand that I’m okay; I think she’s under the impression that if the kittens get in my good graces, they can all move in. Unfortunately, that is not the case, since three cats in one house can be a handful, not to mention expensive (am I right, Mike & Sandy?).
